It is possible to produce hollows on soles (both leather and synthetic materials) as preparation for injected or applied anti-slip, decorations, hollows at different depths, 3D hollows on microporous materials and other processes once typical of manual machines. Two workpiece tables alternatively transport the soles to the work area where 2 electrospindles carry out the hollowing according to the design. The machine architecture allows working with two different tools alternately on each sole, or by mounting two identical tools, processing a pair of right soles on one table and a pair of left soles on the other (where this is possible). The correct position of the sole on the table is set on the computer directly by the operator through a specific program with the possibility to choose positioning using a mask (for soles with very deep hollows, through cuts, irregular support surfaces) or with a manually adjustable self-centering device (shallow hollows, decorations). Masks are cut by the machine, while the self-centering device is included and sole clamping is ensured by an effective vacuum system. Loading and unloading of soles is manual: while the operator unloads and loads one table, the other is working. The operator controls the entry of the newly loaded table into the work area even before the other has returned to the resting position to eliminate downtime. Depending on the tools mounted on the electrospindle, two completely different operations can be performed. It is possible to cut trims in plastic materials, bakelite, cardboard and wooden or composite presses. The base software allows in a few seconds to acquire sole drawings and/or models from a scanner: simple commands accessible to any operator enable hollowing on pairs of soles or single soles. After selecting the tool diameter(s), specific functions automatically arrange the pieces on the work surface and always automatically generate the most suitable cutting path for the hollowing to be performed. A new program can be prepared while the machine is working. The machine, made of stabilized steel, is a fixed gantry with two tables that alternatively enter and exit the work area to move to loading/unloading positions. All movements run on prismatic guides and preloaded recirculating ball slides; transmissions are with precision recirculating ball screws, driven by brushless motors. Cutting scrap evacuation is done through a dedicated suction port to which the suction system must be connected. The external control panel with keyboard and 10" color monitor allows the operator to control and manage the machine; furthermore, the electrospindle's operating area is made inaccessible during the work cycle in compliance with European regulations. With the grooving device (C axis), it is possible to simultaneously perform hollowing operations as well as stitching grooves, notches, grooving, decorations, bicolor sole tissue cutting, etc. The group is equipped with an adjustable heating system to achieve a more or less visible effect on both leather and synthetic soles. With the C axis it is also possible to make straight and reverse notches with precise and regular depth, thanks to the rigidity of the structure and the accurate precision of the accessories used.
